Our Goal in Action

Community Builders are working to ensure that children live in safe and supportive communities by actively working to reduce incidents of abuse and neglect, the rate of referrals for juvenile delinquency, and the percentage of children living in poverty. As part of this goal, work is also done to increase the percentage of youth diverted from court, and identify strategies to continue the increase EITC dollars coming into Broward County.

  • Reducing the Rate of Referrals for Juvenile Delinquency

Broward youth who have contact with law enforcement for less serious charges are accountable for their behavior and stay out of deeper involvement in the Juvenile Justice system, experience positive youth, and family development, and have victim and community empathy and awareness.

The Broward Diversion Coalition (BDC) promotes positive youth development, accountability, and responsibility through education for youth, families, communities and law enforcement; and collaborate service system enhancement to strengthen alternatives to Juvenile Arrest and/ or Prosecution.
